Black Sails is an American television series of the drama genre created by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine on the television channel Starz, and premiered on January 25, 2014. Steinberg is the executive producer along with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. The series is a prequel based on the novel The Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson.
In 1715, during the Golden Age of Piracy, the feared Captain Flint accepted a young pirate on his ship in the midst of the struggle for the survival of pirate activities in New Providence. Pirate activity in the region increasingly threatens merchant ships at the service of the English Crown, leading to combat between the Royal Navy and the most fearsome pirate captains.
