Iron Man is a fictional character in the comic book published by Marvel Comics. His true identity is that of businessman and billionaire Tony Stark, who wears high-tech armor to fight crime. It was created in 1963 by writer Stan Lee, screenwriter Larry Lieber, and designers Jack Kirby and Don Heck. The goal of its creator, Stan Lee, was to accept the challenge of making a character be hated and then loved by the public, thus creating one of the most outstanding superheroes of all time.
The first publication was in Tales of Suspense # 39 (story published for the first time in Brazil in Heroes of TV # 100). He has since become one of Marvel's best-known characters, as a member of the Avengers and adaptations for cartoons and cinema (in which he was played by Robert Downey, Jr.).
