Lucifer is an American television series created by Tom Kapinos that premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016. Starring Tom Ellis, the series is based on the comic book character created by Neil Gaiman for the comic series The Sandman, which, more later, he became the protagonist of the spin-off comic book series Lucifer, written by Mike Carey, and both published by DC Comics' Vertigo. The pilot episode of the series was leaked on the internet in August 2015. In April 2016, Fox broadcaster renewed the series for a second season, which premiered on September 19, 2016. On October 31, 2016, Fox ordered a second season of 22 episodes for the series. On February 13, 2017, Fox renewed the series for a third season of 22 episodes.
However, in March 2017, it was revealed that the last 4 episodes of the second season would be removed and put on air for the third season, meaning that the second season would consist of just 18 episodes. On May 11, 2018, the series was canceled by Fox after three seasons.
