Mulan is a 2020 American film, fantasy, adventure, drama, war and action, directed by Niki Caro with the script of Elizabeth Martin, Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1998 eponymous animated film, which in turn is an adaptation of the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. The film stars Liu Yifei as the title character and also features actors Donnie Yen, Tzi Ma, Jason Scott Lee and Jet Li.
The film would have a major world premiere scheduled for March 9, 2020, which was canceled in the United States several times due to the resulting pandemic of COVID-19. In September of the same year, the film was released through Disney + in the countries where the streaming service is available and will have a traditional premiere in countries that allow the gradual reopening of cinemas. Mulan received positive comments from critics who praised the action sequences, costumes and performances.
