Who was Niccolo Machiavelli?

     Niccolo Machiavelli was a Renaissance philosopher, historian, poet, diplomat and musician. He is recognized as the founder of modern political science and thought, for having written about the state and government as they really are, not as they should be. Since the first criticisms, posthumously made by the English cardinal Reginald Pole, a misunderstanding of Machiavelli's complete work has been coined.
