Peaky Blinders is a British television series aired on BBC Two since 12 September 2013, based on an epic tale by a gangster family set in Birmingham, England, in 1919, shortly after the First World War. The family is notoriously known for having razors sewn onto their hats in addition to the incredible illegal horse racing betting scheme. Inspired by the events and history of the Birmingham criminal association, Peaky Blinders, the series was created by Steven Knight and produced by Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions. The series stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, leader of the family gang.
The series' first season aired on BBC Two on September 13, 2013 and ran for six episodes. The second season premiered on 2 October 2014 and the third season premiered on 5 May 2016. On 26 May 2016, the BBC commissioned the program for a fourth and fifth season. The fourth season aired on BBC Two in early November 2017. The show's fifth season premiered on August 24, 2019.
