The Crown is a television series in webseries of biographical drama, created and written by Peter Morgan for Netflix. The series is a biographical story about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Peter Morgan, who wrote the 2006 film The Queen and the play O Público, wrote the script with director Stephen Daldry, who was also involved.
The Crown has received critical acclaim for its performances, direction, script, photography and the historical accuracy of the events that occurred during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The first season was made available on November 4, 2016 and contains ten episodes, covering the initial period of Elizabeth's marriage to Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 until the engagement of the queen's sister, Princess Margaret, to the disintegration.
