Rambo is a series of films based on the 1972 novel "First Blood", written by David Morrell, but which became famous for the films starring Sylvester Stallone. The series's main character is the green beret soldier and former Vietnam War fighter John Rambo, considered a possible candidate for the American Film Institute's 100 Years ... 100 Heroes and Villains list. Green beret John Rambo (Stallone) returns after returning to his country. During the Vietnam War, after many infiltration missions in the enemy camp, he ended up becoming a prisoner of war for the North Vietnamese. Captivity generated profound psychological trauma due to torture and deprivation.
By executing an elaborate escape plan and crossing a good part of the humid Vietnamese forests, he manages to return to friendly lines and even with countless military honors and decorations he decides that it is time to abandon his weapons and return home.
