Superman is a fictional American comic book superhero published by DC Comics, a subsidiary of the Time Warner group. Superman, however, has been adapted for several other media since the 1930s, such as cinema, radio, television, literature and video game. Superman is a superhero created by comic book duo Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel.
His first appearance was presented in Action Comics # 1 in 1938, in the United States. The character was born on the fictional planet of Krypton and was named Kal-El. He was sent to Earth by his father, Jor-El, a scientist, moments before the planet exploded. The rocket landed on Earth in the city of Smallville (for a few years, it was translated in Brazil as Pequenopolis), where the young Kal-El was discovered by farmer couple Jonathan and Martha Kent.
