The Umbrella Academy is an American television series developed by Steve Blackman for Netflix, it is an adaptation of the comic book series The Umbrella Academy created by Gerard Way and Brazilian comic artist Gabriel Bá, published by Dark Horse Comics.
The series started in 1989, 43 children were inexplicably born to random women, with no connection between them, who on the previous day did not show any sign of pregnancy. Seven were adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates the Umbrella Academy and trains his "children" to save the world.
But not everything went as planned. The family disintegrated, and the group broke up in adolescence. Now, the six survivors, already in their 30s, meet again to learn of Hargreeves' death.
